COMPOSITE TURF REINFORCEMENT MATRIX
(cTRM)

The composite reinforcement mat (cTRM) shall be a machine produced mat of 100% coconut fibre matrix incorporated into a permanent 3 dimensional netting structure. TRM is a combination of natural fibers and synthetic material mat.

Turf Reinforcement Matrix
C350

TRM is specifically developed for soft armor revetment systems such as:
ü River channel bank protection
ü Grass swale reinforcement
ü Lake edge erosion control
ü Detention/retention pond erosion control

Typical application of TRM

Channel bank protection

Shoreline protection of a recreational pond

Can we just turf without TRM?

Extensive study consisted of exposing various TRM and highly erodible sandy loam soils in fully vegetated conditions to consecutive channel flows at increasing levels of velocity & shear stress was carried out for:

  1. unreinforced vegetation
  2. reinforced with conventional TRM
  3. reinforced with North American Green TRM C350

Results show that with turf reinforcement matrix TRM C350, the protected area shall be able to withstand maximum velocity of 5.5m/s. Whereas, the unreinforced channel lining experience the soil loss up to 0.5 inch within ½ hours under a flow velocity as slow as 2m/s.
